Nesen K. Arumugam graduated with an LLB (Hons) from University Utara Malaysia in 2012 and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Malaysian Bar on 27th September 2013.

Experience:

Nesen K. Arumugam practices civil litigation and has nine years of extensive experience, focusing on insurance litigation involving personal injury and dependency claims (motor policy), as well as life and personal accident policies. He has also defended clients against fraudulent claims. Nesen has attended various tiers of courts, conducting trials at the Magistrates, Sessions, and High Courts, and arguing appeals at the High Courts and Court of Appeal.

He handles cases on behalf of employers, regularly appearing in the Industrial Court and managing disputes related to dismissal, constructive dismissal, collective agreements, redundancy, retrenchment, change of ownership of business, and other employment-related issues. His initial experience representing employees and trade unions in the Labour Court, Industrial Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal has given him a comprehensive understanding of Industrial Relations matters from both employer and employee perspectives. Nesen frequently appears in the High Court for judicial review proceedings relating to Industrial Court awards and appeals on Labour Court decisions.

In addition to his expertise in employment law, Nesen has experience in a wide range of commercial litigation, including corporate disputes involving shareholders and directors, winding-up disputes, contractual disputes, and tortious claims. He advises and acts for both local and international clients in land and tenancy disputes, probate and administrative disputes, and various debt recovery and insolvency matters.

Career:

Nesen K. Arumugam joined Messrs Syed Alwi, Ng & Co. in October 2020. He became a Senior Legal Assistant in 2021 and was appointed as a Partner in 2023.
